RGIII Headed to Washington Who Trade 3 First Round Picks and More to Rams

By Chris Malumphy

Washington Redskins' owner Dan Snyder and head coach Mike Shanahan shipped off a boatload of first round draft picks to the St. Louis Rams for the second choice in the 2012 NFL Draft. With the Indianapolis Colts expected to draft quarterback Andrew Luck from Stanford with the first pick, the Redskins was select Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III.

The Redskins gave up their first round pick in 2012, the sixth choice overall, as well as their second round pick this year and first round picks in 2013 and 2014. The Cleveland Browns, the strongest suitor next to the Redskins, will now need to look elsewhere to improve their quarterback situation. The Rams will stick with Sam Bradford, the top pick in 2010, who frankly hasn't played particularly well since the first half of his rookie season. With two first round picks in the next three drafts, the Rams hope to rebuild a moribund offense and a porous defense under new coach Jeff Fisher.
