It has become clear that the Raiders will select Klint Kubiak as the team's next head coach.The Cardinals are hiring Mike LaFleur, brother of the Packers' Matt LaFleur as head coach. The LaFleurs will become the third set of brothers to be head coaches simulataneously, joining Jon and Jay Gruden and Jim and John Harbaugh.
The annual turnover of coaches has already seen John Harbaugh heading to the Giants, Kevin Stefanski to the Falcons, Jeff Halfley to the Dolphins, Robert Saleh to the Titans and Jesse Minter to the Ravens. The Pittsburgh Steelers, going against a 45 year trend of hiring young coaches, selected Mike McCarthy who becomes their oldest coach ever. Joe Brady was promoted from his position of offensive coordinator to head coach of the Bills. The Browns filled their head coaching vacancy by hiring Todd Monken.
It is somewhat ironic that both Harbaugh and Stefanski were fired in the earlier stage of the process. Harbaugh replaces Brian Daboll / Mike Kafka, Stefanski replaces Raheem Morris, Hafley replaces Mike McDaniel, Saleh replaces Brian Callahan / Mike McCoy, Minter replaces John Harbaugh, McCarthy replaces Mike Tomlin, Brady steps in for Sean McDermott, Monken replaces Kevin Stefanski, LaFleur replaces Jonathan Gannon and Kubiak replaces Pete Carroll.
